Best Medicare Plan
When it comes time for a client to select a new health insurance plan one of the top questions I get asked is “What’s the best plan?” I’ve reviewed all of the available plan options in the area and I’ve determined the best plan is…it’s not that simple. (No, that’s not a new plan name 😉).
The better question to ask is “What plan is the right fit for me currently?” There are a lot of variables when it comes time to select your Medicare insurance plan and what makes the plan the right fit for you.
Factors we take into account such as; budget, lifestyle, health needs, likes/dislikes, doctors & prescription needs just to name a few.
Let’s use this scenario- my friend may have major prescription needs, a modest income for retirement and does not travel out of the area often, but I may have limited prescription needs, a more moderate retirement income and I spend 6 months out of year in Florida. We have very different needs and lifestyles, so chances are the same plan may not be the best fit for each of us.
Let’s use this different scenario- I sign-up for Medicare at age 65 and I have limited prescription needs. limited doctors are within the local area and my hearing is perfect. Fast foward 15 years I may have more prescription needs, a need to see a specialist who is out of my area at Cleveland Clinic and my hearing has significantly declined to the point I need hearing aids. 👂🏻
My needs have changed as the years have passed, so my plan that I selected years ago is most likely not the right fit for me at this present time. I need to find a plan that accomodates my greater prescription needs, access to a greater network, and some type of allowance for a hearing aids. I need to work with my agent to find a plan during the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period or Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period that better fits my needs at this time.
When it comes time to select your coverage it’s important to find someone who can help you parse through all of the available options and information, listen to your wants/needs, lifestyle and budget to help find the plan that’s the best suited for you at that time.
Remember selecting your Medicare insurance plan isn’t a set it and forget it thing. It’s important to work with someone regularly to ensure your coverage is ✔️off all the boxes for you and your needs.
