Medicare Message

One Size Does Not Fit All

Are you enrolling in Medicare for the first time? You probably will also be shopping for the secondary coverage to help cover the remaining 20% that Original Medicare does not cover. Original Medicare only covers 80% of hospital and medical costs leaving you exposed to 20% of hospital and medical costs. How do you select the best secondary coverage option for you? You could listen to your family, friends, neighbors or some ex-NFL players on that infomercial on TV about what type they are on and try to enroll in that plan, but what are the chances you have the same health needs, budget, doctors, prescriptions, and priorities as they do? NFL players know football, but I’m not sure what they know about your Medicare related needs.

The likelihood that the plan that your family, friends or neighbors are enrolled in is the best fit for you is not very high. Take their opinions with a grain of salt when you are evaluating your coverage options. Pick the plan that works best for your specific set of needs, budget and unique needs, which is why there are a variety of plans offered by many different insurance carriers!
